About The Book:
When do you admit a holiday fling is so much more?
Kayla’s always been scared to push her boundaries and take a risk. But it turns out all she needed was a scumbag ex-boyfriend to send her running to Hawaii, hoping to pull the shattered pieces of her heart back together while sunning herself on a white sand beach.
What she hadn’t planned on was falling for someone new. Especially someone tall, tanned, and distractingly sexy. Soon sparks and puns are flying, and Kayla is introduced to a whole new way of appreciating Hawaii’s beautiful scenery. But what starts out as a fun holiday romance turns into a full-blown love affair, with neither wanting to admit the clock is ticking until Kayla has to return home.
A combined volume of all three books in the Hawaiian Heartbreak trilogy. Recommended for readers over 18 due to explicit sexual content.
Kayla decides that a trip to Hawaii would be a great way to reset after a bad break-up. On her first tour she meets Jay, a hunky tour guide who is just as attracted to her. Though they make it clear from the start that they are just a vacation “thing” it soon becomes obvious that both would happy with more. There are so many things for Kayla to consider; is it too soon after her break-up to fall in love, is she really considering giving upher job and leaving everything she knows to live in another country? Is it just too much soon or does true love win the day?
This was a sweet sexy read. While it does have a “love at first sight” vibe, the progression of the story was quite natural. It was obvious from the start that the two of them were working at more than just a fling and the relationship built in a realistic way from hot and heavy to real emotional attachment to a relationship that seems like it just might go the distance. The only real conflict was the short nature of the relationship which, of course, was governed by the length of Kayla’s vacation. Sometimes it takes a huge step outside of yourself to see where your life is or isn’t working and Kayla’s big decision feels right in the end. Though it is obvious through much of the story that Jay is hiding something, he is not a prototypical island player and reads quite well as a leading man. The playful banter between the two was witty and fun and quite honestly was one of the high points of the story. The sex was deliciously hot, set against the back drop of various points of interest in both Hawaii and New Zealand, beautifully shared with the reader from the characters’ viewpoint.
The story was interesting and kept me reading until the end. Though all the books of the trilogy are available separately, I would recommend reading it as a set. The third part seems a bit short on story with extra helping or two of steamy sex as filler, however it works wonderfully as part of a single read.
I received a copy of this trilogy in exchange for an honest review
